People don’t like giving away information about themselves, no matter how minute it may seem to you. Therefore, it’s important you ask for as little as possible. I’ve seen contact forms where you have to fill in your full name, business name, email address, phone number, country, and the list goes on. I don’t want to share all that!
Only ask for what you absolutely need to know to help. Keep in mind here: creating a customer profile is not a good reason to ask for more. What’s most important is that your customers feel like they can easily and safely reach you. For most websites, two fields should be enough: one for an email address, and one for the actual message.
